The School of Music offers Individual (MUSI) flute instruction. Students who wish to study through the School must perform an audition before the flute professor or via recording.
Repertoire
Please prepare two contrasting works, one demonstrating technical proficiency and another, lyricism. Consider performing works from differing style periods that demonstrate your strengths. Refer to the Suggested Repertoire list below for suitable works to prepare for your audition.
Live Audition
Contact Dr. Luce to schedule an audition during one of the regular audition dates or during a time when you wish to visit the University of Arizona. Your chosen audition repertoire may be performed from memory, and you will also be asked to perform scales and arpeggios from memory as well as sight read.
Recorded Audition
Although a live audition is preferable, prospective students may prepare an unedited recording of two contrasting works. Record any accompanied works with piano and include performance of six major and minor scales and arpeggios of your choosing. The media of the recording may be in CD, cassette tape, VHS tape, or DVD. You may also submit audio or video recordings via E-mail in QuickTime, RealMedia, Windows Media, or Adobe Flash format.
